You can practice your skills or take the Tiger Woods challenge. I use the concurrent radar to determine ball placement for the ball to land and use a full strength swing.GRAPHICS AND SOUNDGraphics are decent for a handheld but the detail is rudimentary. You can customize your own player however, the detail is too small to really notice a difference in the face; the body is customized as small, medium or large. This is the best golf game for the Nintendo DS platform. You can change the color of clothing.WHO IS THIS FOR.Any golf enthusiastPlayers of any age, given the different methods of controlPROSTouch screen controlDetail/mini gamesCONSSoundRudimentary graphicsLearning curve for controlOverall, this is a solid game for the DS system. The touch screen mode, allows the most flexibility and once you learn how to gauge your distances, is the most versatile with regards to tee shots, approaches and putting. I look forward to seeing an update on this game.
With regards to game play, you can select a single match or start in career mode competing with the PGA's best golfers. The caddie is quite accurate with regards to calculating how you should put, but the interface is still imprecise. There are variety of PGA and LPGA to include Tiger, Retief Goosen, VJ Singh, Annika, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, Jim Furyk, just to name a few. One gripe I have is that there is no way to push a button to speed up play - you have to watch the ball's trajectory. There are noticeable subtlies when using different golfers, especially your own with attributes of 1/25 for everything.GAMEPLAYThere are three methods of play: 3 tap, 2 tap and touch screen mode. Sound is a bit of a disappointment and I have heard the sound of a metal wood, at times, with a 7 irons which is comical.
You can play in multiplayer or single player mode. However, the golf courses are recognizable, including the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass or the 18th hole at Pebble Beach. The 3 tap mode allows for distance and directional control but has a learning curve to become good at it. Mini games are challenging but keep a player's interest. The 2 tap method is the easiest and gives you no directional control, just distance.
I have been playing it in Iraq quite a bit. It is a lot of fun even though it is for the Nintendo DS.
Ended up buying that elsewhere and love the game overall, except for the putting and the tutoring. Bought the ds version accidentally, was looking for wii.
I think you should buy the game off amazon because the price is really low. I was having a hard time at first getting used to the game and when I did the game was awesome.
It's fun to play golf with the pros programmed into the game, it challanges you to improve while showing you how good the pros REALLY are. I was impressed at the options when it comes to customizing your character, but I wish the face was easier to see.
